Vintage buckle ring with lovely etched detailing. This piece was made in London in 1980. 

The Joan Ring has English hallmarks, telling us it was made in London, England (the leopard face stamp) in 1980 (the F stamp). Hallmarks were introduced in the year 1300 by King Edward I. He required that gold be marked with the leopard head, which is where the mark for London originated from.  It was taken from the royal arms and later known as the King's mark. I love researching hallmarks because they tell us a little more of a piece's story.
