Vintage wishbone ring comprised of 5 sapphires and 4 diamonds set in solid 9ct gold. This piece has hallmarks indicating it was made in London in 1982.
Wishbones have long symbolised hope and luck. Since the early 1700s, it has been a custom for two people to hold and snap a wishbone. If it snaps cleanly in half, both people had their wish granted. In the early 1800s (the Victorian era), symbolic jewellery grew in popularity. This included the introduction of the wishbone ring, symbolising good luck.
