This was an exciting find! I stumbled across this purple cabochon cut mystery set in solid 18k gold and was very intrigued to find out what it is. I knew it was something natural (and it was just beautiful).  Investigations by my gemologist (and a couple second opinions) confirmed it is a natural ruby.

The ruby is a deep purple. You can see the beautiful natural inclusions when it catches the light. It is set in a simple and solid 18k gold band that is a soft, yellow hue.
